Blood Transfusion Anyone?

Chibi Vampire...

Vampires are believed to be dreadful, scrounging abominations, sleeping by daylight and plundering by nightfall. These depictions of a vampire have long been passed from one story to another, through books or by word of mouth. For sure, a lot of people have read Bram Stoker’s Dracula or have seen the film, but this doesn’t concern the Count’s horror flick. This is a story of a teenager caught up between her vampire brethren and living a normal life…

Karin Marker hails from a long line of vampires from Europe. Now, her family resides in Japan and spends their fateful lives at night hunting fresh blood for dinner. Everything seems alright except for one teeny-weeny detail – she’s different from the rest of the family! She produces blood instead of feeding on it; because of this, she has to inject blood by biting someone or else she suffers exaggerated nosebleeds. Because of her unusual condition, Karin lives her life just as an ordinary teenage girl would, despite being considered something of a freak by her family. She is able to venture outside during the day and attend high school, and follow the sleep pattern of normal humans. However, the general peacefulness of her life is disrupted as a new student named Kenta Usui finds out her deepest, darkest secret! The biggest question of all – can she hold back her massive nosebleeds?

Vampire and Human

Karin Marker - a 16-year-old "blood-producing" vampire whose body produces too much blood. As such, she does not suck blood from her "victims"; rather, she injects her surplus blood into them. This has the effect of making her victims very lively and positive. To make matters worse, her blood levels increase dramatically whenever she senses misfortune in those around her, or if she gets embarrassed about something. This results in frequent and excessively overwhelming nosebleeds, followed by anemic symptoms such as being lightheaded, which cause frequent visits to the school nurse's office so she can rest.

Kenta Usui – a student that transferred to Karin's high school. He is also her workmate. Kenta is the only human that knows of Karin's vampirism. He learned what she was after witnessing her biting three victims, one of which was his own mother. He has promised to keep this knowledge a secret. As his unhappiness causes Karin's blood to rapidly increase, she has taken it upon herself to cheer him up by making him bento every day. He could not afford to buy his own lunch and is therefore grateful to her.

Karin may not be the most artistic and stylish anime anyone has seen, but it still has its good points that can keep viewers glued on the screen. So, tired of those blood-soaked, monster-ripping action anime? Getting depressed over stressful problems at home, or just plain anemic? Then let Karin bite your hearts out with laughter and ecchi-ness!
